According to the Dream Act’s website, in order to qualify for the Dream Act there is a list of specific requirements that the students will need:
- Must have entered the United States before the age of 16 (i.e. 15 and younger)
- Must have lived in the United States continuously for at least five (5) years, prior to enactment of the bill
- Must have graduated from a United States high school or obtained a GED, or have been accepted into an institution of higher education (i.e. college/university)
- Must have good moral character with no criminal record
- Must attend college or enlist in the military
- Must be between the ages of 12 and 35
These students have lived in the U.S. for most of their lives and desire only to give back to this country (their home) through hard work, service, and dedication. The Dream Act offers a solution that will make a difference every day in the future of the United States.
